PAPER & INK — 18 WORKS
2023 → 2026

Most of these were made at night, at the table by the window. They do not record anything dramatic — only what a hand can do once the room has gone quiet.

Ink asks to be slow — slow enough to see each line breathe.

ABOUT

Between brush
and ink, slowly

I began calligraphy with seal and clerical script, and I also paint in the gongbi manner and make woodcut prints. The first time my work hung on an exhibition wall, I realised that every press and lift of the brush on paper gives you away. Since then I have been glad to slow down and write, one stroke at a time.
